Meet Javyn
“Now that I know that I can encourage others to not give up, I remind myself that all things are possible.”
Javyn’s normal teenage life of baseball games and weekends with friends was abruptly interrupted with pain in his leg that he finally couldn’t ignore. He kept telling himself that the pain would go away but instead it just got worse.
“I could barely bend my leg,” he remembers. “I couldn’t go up the stairs. That’s when I finally told my mama.”
Javyn’s mom took him to the hospital, where they were soon instructed to head to Arkansas Children’s Hospital. Javyn had chronic myelogenous leukemia.
“Leukemia could have ruined my life but I never let it. I kept pushing through all the pain,” says Javyn. “I pushed myself to get as healthy as I can and keep moving on with my life and not let this hold me back.”
