Lucy is a childhood cancer survivor who received a college scholarship from us to help with her college expenses this fall - thanks to the generosity of last year’s GivingTuesday donors.

We hope to welcome the largest ever class of College Scholars into this program in 2025, but we can’t do it without your support! 100% of GivingTuesday donations will go directly toward a survivor’s scholarship in 2025.

Since launching our scholarship program just a few years ago, we’ve helped nearly 50 childhood cancer survivors pursue their college goals. Our College Scholars Program is unique because it not only provides educational funds but it also includes a cancer volunteer project of the student’s choice. Scholarship recipients receive support and mentorship from our team on community-oriented projects like campus bone marrow drives.

For Lucy’s volunteer project, she created a campus club for students who are cancer patients, survivors, and supporters, to help build a sense of belonging, support, and community. Lucy hit the ground running when she got to campus in the fall of 2024, quickly gathering 15 members to join her club! The group held its first monthly meeting in September.

This program is fostering a new generation of leaders who are driven by their own childhood cancer experience. Alumni of the Children’s Cancer Cause College Scholars Program have gone on to become medical students studying pediatric oncology, clinical trial researchers, and candidates for local public office.

There are many ways you can support our life-changing work: make a donation, share our mission on social media, or start your own charity streaming fundraiser. If you or someone you know streams, consider fundraising for Children’s Cancer Cause while streaming — turn your passion into a way to help childhood cancer survivors achieve their dreams.

Don't wait - make your gift today or set up your stream here!

“I have no memories of life without cancer. My earliest memory is being in a bright, artificially lit room. Later I understood that this was a hospital operating room. This operating room was one that I visited every three weeks for many years.

These experiences have shaped me and inspired who I want to become. I hope to go to Med School to someday become a pediatric oncologist.” -Lucy
