Creating Hope Act Temporarily Reauthorized: Senate Action Required

The House of Representatives passed the Creating Hope Reauthorization Act (H.R.4439) on September 29th, extending the voucher program for four more years. The Senate now needs to take action on the companion bill (S.4010) to secure its passage.

“The House passage of this important legislation is a strong symbol of hope for every child and their family who faces the devastation of a cancer or a life-threatening rare pediatric disease diagnosis.  As the co-chair of both the Childhood Cancer Caucus and the Rare Disease Caucus, I am hopeful and encouraged by the passage of a four-year extension of this critical program.  Enactment of my bill will ensure that this program can continue to incentivize research and lead to the creation of life-changing and life-saving treatments for children and their families.  I am grateful for the support of my colleagues in the House of Representative and I look forward to the swift passage of this bill in the Senate.”

- Congressman G. K. Butterfield (D-NC)

The program was set to expire at midnight on September 30th but gained a temporary reprieve with its inclusion in the Continuing Resolution that kept the government from shutting down. This gives the program a new expiration date of December 11th.

Join us in asking the Senate to extend the Creating Hope Reauthorization Act for at least four years, before the program expires in December:
