The Leonard M. Rosen Memorial Research Award is presented annually at the Children’s Cancer Cause Cocktail Reception in New York City. This year, Children’s Cancer Cause was proud to present the 4th Annual Rosen Award to David Poplack, MD, Director of Global HOPE.

Dr. Poplack, a former Children’s Cancer Cause Board Member, previously spent 25 years as the Director of Texas Children’s Cancer Center, where he grew that institution into one of the nation’s top pediatric cancer centers and mentored scores of pediatric oncologists who are now caring for children here in the United States.

To survivors and their families, Dr. Poplack is best known as the developer of Passport for Care, an individualized online tool that helps survivors manage their long-term care.

Dr. Poplack now serves as Director of Global HOPE, a program focused on building Pediatric Hematology-Oncology Centers of Excellence in 7 sub-Saharan African countries.

“This continues his leadership in addressing one of the most urgent needs in childhood cancer - and demonstrates his continuing compassion and dedication to the care of children everywhere,” said Dr. Michael Link in his presentation of the award to Dr. Poplack. “In this new role, he continues to set an example for all of us in the field that we need to continue supporting the work of researchers, clinicians and advocacy groups to cure our kids and make sure they live full, healthy lives.”

As a recipient of the Leonard M. Rosen Memorial Research Award, Dr. Poplack receives $10,000 in recognition and support of his life-saving work around the world.
